Three wells show elevated PFAS levels; property inspection approved

Alford board addresses well contamination and property dispute. Testing of five town wells through a state environmental initiative found elevated PFAS levels in three samples, with Board of Health staff coordinating remediation with the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection. The Select Board voted 2 to 1, with one abstention, to authorize an inspection of 303 East Road after an abutter reported temporary housing on the property line.
Highway thefts of a street sign and flashing pylon have been reported to State Police.
