Select Board terminates town counsel, approves holiday schedule adjustments

Alford Select Board unanimously terminates town counsel over zoning bylaw work. Chair Bruce Schreiber and members approved the motion to end the KP Law contract, acting on a Planning Board request for new legal representation. The board also agreed the transfer station would be open Friday, December 24 from 8am to noon to accommodate the holiday falling on Saturday, while the Highway Department will observe Christmas and New Year's on Monday, December 27 and January 3.
Board of Health Officer Jayne Smith reported five active Covid cases in Alford, with higher positive rates among unvaccinated residents, and recommended weekly rapid testing for unvaccinated town employees.
