Select Board establishes uniform tax rate for fiscal year.
Select Board · Meeting of September 13, 2021
Alford Select Board establishes uniform tax rate, citing insufficient levy capacity. Assessors Clerk Tammy Blackwell reported a town valuation of $300,136,431.00 and excess levy capacity of $342,489.74, eliminating the option for a split rate. Peter Puciloski moved to adopt the uniform rate; the board approved unanimously.
Health Agent Jayne Smith presented a draft mask mandate for board review and announced she is pursuing grant funds for water quality testing at Alford Brook. Highway Superintendent TJ Horrigan reported that Mass DOT plans to replace the West Road bridge at Scribner Brook and requires an easement across land subject to an Agricultural Preservation Restriction; he also asked about using Eastern Salt instead of the county vendor, but Puciloski noted public bidding law would apply.
