Select Board directs health agent to issue well permit variance

Select Board · Meeting of April 28, 2025

Alford Select Board approves well permit setback variance. Madeline Maggio, owner of 24 Green River Valley Road, sought permission to replace a dry well 40 feet from the road instead of the required 50-foot setback to accommodate removal of trees and fencing. Board of Health Agent Jayne Smith indicated that decommissioning the existing well would be a permit condition.

The Select Board directed Smith to issue the permit. In other business, residents Nate Nickerson and Heather Hays raised concerns about West Road bridge construction vibrations affecting their property, and Highway Superintendent TJ Horrigan said he had contacted the contractor to reactivate seismic monitoring.
