Select Board authorizes $10K Town Hall boiler replacement

Alford Select Board approves $10K boiler replacement contract. Highway Supervisor Casey Searing reported the Town Hall boiler, 30 years old with unavailable replacement parts, requires replacement. The board unanimously approved a $9,976.57 contract from Independent Heating, with installation scheduled for the end of the week.

In other business, the Capital Planning Committee recommended $150,000 annual allocations from free cash to a stabilization fund for Fire and Highway department vehicle and equipment replacement, preventing future borrowing. Resident Carolyn Hammer raised concerns about Great Barrington Library access and the board announced plans to survey Alford residents after January 1 regarding library experiences.
