Alford Select Board unanimously hires new highway department chief and backs compensation. Chair Charles Ketchen led the board in appointing Aaron Coons to the highway department and approving a $900 annual cell phone stipend for Highway Superintendent TJ Horrigan, who lacks adequate Verizon coverage at his residence. In new business, the board signaled interest in expanding the grant writer budget for FY2023 to capitalize on expected federal infrastructure funding opportunities, with member Tricia Bevan offering to assist with grant writing in the interim.
The board also granted the Alford Historical District Commission permission to hold its annual "Lighting up the District" event on November 27th.
