Select Board approves $800 Town Hall step repair, delays school budget vote.

Select Board · Meeting of April 14, 2026

Alford Select Board and Finance Committee unanimously approved the FY2027 budget for Annual Town Meeting and voted to repair the Town Hall concrete step for $800 rather than replace it at $4,500. The decision defers full reconstruction until planned ADA improvements occur at the building. The vote reflects an agreement among all five Southern Berkshire Regional School District towns to delay their school budget votes from May Town Meetings to a joint Special Town Meeting in June, providing the district's new Superintendent and Business Management partners six additional weeks to resolve recently identified financial discrepancies.

Carl Stewart, Alford's School Committee representative, supported the delay.
