Alford Select Board approves $176,130 blacktop contract. The board unanimously accepted a bid from Williams Paving of West Stockbridge for paving work, the lowest among four bidders, on a recommendation from Highway Superintendent TJ Horrigan. The board heard a report from Board of Health member Jayne Smith on developing a Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan involving town departments and community members, with resident Nancy Johnson offering to assist with plan development.
The board agreed to contact Egremont about possible participation in that town's mattress recycling program after learning Tuff Stuff Recycling is no longer available.
