Select Board approves $12,000 for storm damage cleanup

Alford Select Board approves $12,000 in emergency storm cleanup funding for tree damage. The board unanimously approved Charles Ketchen's motion to transfer $6,000 from Emergency Reserve and $6,000 from Alford Link toward cleanup of a Saturday windstorm that toppled 30 to 40 trees and three or four telephone poles on West Road, with Peter Puciloski seconding. The board also unanimously imposed a $250 annual registration fee for short-term rentals pending receipt of a state ID number from the Massachusetts Department of Revenue that must be used by homeowners to ensure tax revenue reaches Alford.
