Select Board appoints two to Cultural Council; OKs Highway pay raise.

Alford Select Board unanimously appointed Sandra Josel and Phyllis Slocum to the Alford/Egremont Cultural Council. The board approved a $1 salary increase for Highway Department employee Aaron Coons after his probationary period and discussed a potential $200 grant from the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection's recycling program tied to adopting a Recycle Product Purchase Policy. Henry Flint, a 20-year Conservation Commission member, proposed hiring a Conservation Agent at 15 hours per month for $25 per hour to manage state filings and notices.
Board member Peter Puciloski reported he will draft a proposal for new Town Counsel Adam Costa, whom he described as competent and experienced in municipal law.
