Alford Select Board addresses property permits, Federal grant, and union committee appointment. The board reviewed insurance premium reduction opportunities through MIIA and heard from Jayne Smith regarding a well permit for 274 East Road, recommending water quality testing at a certified laboratory. The Fire Department plans to apply for a Federal grant for a brush truck by December 20.
Chair Bruce Schreiber suggested appointing someone with negotiation experience to the teachers union committee, with Board Member Charles Ketchen attending a five-town selection meeting.
