Planning Board grants special permit for 1,800-foot driveway extension.

Planning Board · Meeting of September 13, 2023

ALFORD — The Alford Planning Board unanimously approved a special permit for a 1,800-linear-foot driveway extension on West Road. Architect Dana Bixby sought approval to extend a common driveway to a future house site outside the Scenic Mountain Act district, with grades averaging 6 percent and no blasting permitted. The board imposed five conditions, including specified lighting, prohibition of blasting, and future site plan review for fire safety access when house plans are submitted.

Fire Chief Steve Berkel recommended a "hammerhead" turnaround configuration. The applicant must return for site plan review confirmation once construction plans are finalized.
