Planning Board approves Short Term Rental zoning bylaw

Planning Board · Meeting of January 11, 2023

ALFORD — Planning Board approves Short Term Rental zoning bylaw for Town Meeting vote. The Planning Board voted to approve a zoning bylaw that would legalize short-term rentals in Alford, currently prohibited, and sent it to Town Meeting for voter consideration. Planning Board member Alexandra Glover presented the bylaw's registration and enforcement framework line-by-line during a public hearing.

Town Clerk Peggy Henden-Wilson suggested additional provisions such as DBA registration and Constable enforcement, which Glover noted could be incorporated into the town's general bylaw instead. Under the bylaw, short-term rentals would become a "by right use" once Town Meeting voters approve the measure.
