Planning Board approves 1,450-foot driveway for Green River Road

Planning Board · Meeting of February 25, 2021

Alford Planning Board approves lengthy driveway variance for Green River Road project. Applicants Laura Bailyn and Nicholas Diamond won a Special Permit for a 1,450-foot driveway, exceeding the town's standard 500-foot limit under zoning bylaws. Fire Chief Steve Berkel's requirements include three 20-foot by 40-foot bump-outs for emergency vehicles.

The first 400 feet of the driveway cross an existing easement on neighboring property owned by Margareta Thaute and are grandfathered in as a legal nonconforming use. Bailyn and Diamond withdrew a separate application for common driveway status. The Planning Board deferred the Site Plan Review for the residential structure to March 3.
