FINANCE COMMITTEE BACKS TOWN CLERK APPOINTMENT TRANSITION

Alford Finance Committee unanimously endorses Town Clerk appointment transition. The committee voted 5-0 to support a motion by Peter Schoeffer, seconded by Carl Stewart, converting the Town Clerk and Treasurer/Collector positions from elected to appointed status, establishing salary parity between the Clerk and Treasurer/Collector, and requiring posted weekly office hours at Town Hall. The committee simultaneously voted unanimously to defer Southern Berkshire Ambulance Service budget inclusion pending receipt of updated funding alternatives from the provider.
