Finance Committee backs higher Town Clerk salary increase

Alford Finance Committee recommends higher compensation for Town Clerk position. In a 4-1 vote, the committee recommended that the Select Board increase the Town Clerk salary beyond the 5 percent raise previously recommended on March 22, citing expanded duties from changing Massachusetts legal requirements. Finance Committee member Peter Schoeffer moved the recommendation, with support from member Mort Josel.
The committee also unanimously adopted comparative salary data for small-town Town Clerk positions and voted unanimously to add a public comment period to future meetings.
