Alford Select Board votes 6 percent room occupancy tax

Alford Select Board unanimously approves 6 percent room occupancy tax for March vote. The board voted on the rate following a short-term rental taxation presentation, with the Special Town Meeting scheduled for March 14 at 6 p.m. Board member Peter Puciloski moved the measure, seconded by fellow board member Peggy Rae Henden-Wilson.
The board also unanimously authorized removal of holiday decorations. The West Road Bridge project faces a critical February 15 deadline: property abutters must sign a waiver or the articles approved at an October Special Town Meeting will require another town vote. Two abutters remain unwilling to sign, potentially forcing the town to pursue eminent domain.
