Alford Select Board approves electric rate aggregation

Alford Select Board approves municipal aggregation program saving 22 percent on electric rates. The board approved a municipal aggregation program, locking in a rate of 0.11450 for seven months on the basic electric option through Colonial Power, compared to the current National Grid rate of 0.14672, with service beginning April 1, 2025. The board established a Capital Projects committee consisting of representatives from the Select Board, Finance Committee, Planning Board, and Department of Public Works, with liaisons from the Conservation Commission, Fire Department, and AHDC as needed.
Bond Counsel has not yet issued a final opinion on borrowing authorization for projects voted on at a Special Town Meeting, delaying their implementation.
