Alford Select Board appoints new Assistant Treasurer and advances budget articles. The board unanimously appointed Seana Roche, currently Assistant Treasurer in Sheffield, to the Alford post. Finance Committee approved three budget articles with a 3 percent salary increase for most town employees and 5 to 8 percent for Highway, Town Clerk, and Accountant positions reflecting increased work responsibilities.
The board accepted a $2,648 Garden Club donation for town gardens and approved $18,000 in historic district funds for a documentary film on longtime residents, plus a $1,500 stipend to Tim Ortwein for municipal aggregation work. Finance Committee member Ortwein recommended dissolving the Library and Library Trustees, with the Town Clerk to seek guidance from Town Counsel on closure procedures.
